Real Time Orbit Update
We have added a new detailed graphic descibing the current orbit.
Real
Time Orbit Update
We have upgraded the graphics on the real time orbit page.
We are in the process of creating more real time pages for the Mars Surveyor 98 launch. After the launch of the lander in January 1999, we will add three more real time pages to the Mars web site. These pages will be determined by you, the United States tax payer. Please send your request to: Kirk Goodall (kirk.goodall@jpl.nasa.gov). The subject of your e-mail should be <REAL TIME REQUEST>.
We will analyze the requests and determine which ones are technically feasible. On January 15, 1999 we will post the top three requests on the web site and begin implementation.

NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Planet-B Neutral Mass Spectrometer (GSFC)
The Atmospheric Experiment Branch of the Goddard Space Flight Center built a Neutral Mass Spectrometer (NMS), which was launched on July 4, 1998 ( Friday at 5:12 PM PDT ) to the planet Mars aboard the Japanese Planet-B spacecraft, under direction of the Japanese Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS).

Major Release - Mars Global Surveyor Science Sampler
Numerous High Resolution MOC Images
The Mars Global Surveyor Science Sampler is a CD-ROM containing some of the first science data products acquired by the MGS instruments MOC (Mars Orbiter Camera), MOLA (Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter), TES (Thermal Emission Spectrometer), and MAG/ER (Magnetometer/Electron Reflectometer). The Sampler also includes two spherical harmonics gravity models for Mars based on Mariner 9 and Viking Orbiter data, which will be updated by the MGS Radio Science Subsystem (RSS) experiment. The Science Sampler is intended to provide users with a sample of MGS data products from each instrument, to allow them to prepare for standard data product deliveries that will begin in the next few months.
The CD-ROM contents are provided here for use by the planetary community and the interested public. Copies of the CD-ROM are available to planetary scientists through NASA's Planetary Data System (PDS), and to the public through the National Space Science Data Center (NSSDC).
The MGS Science Sampler is produced by the Planetary Data System Geosciences Node at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. Questions and comments may be addressed to geosci@wunder.wustl.edu.

Please be advised that major releases of science data onto the web site currently coincide with the time at which press conferences are held at JPL. We are actively working with the remote science teams to develop procedures which will enable mission data to be released with greater frequency.
If there is information you would like to see added to the Mars Global
Surveyor site, please send your request to:
Kirk Goodall (kirk.goodall@jpl.nasa.gov).
The subject of your mail message should read: MGS REQUEST: <your request>
Due to the tremendous volume of e-mail we receive we can not always respond, but your e-mail is most certainly reviewed and considered. Substantive e-mail is periodically incorporated into reports.
Thank you for your continued interest in the Mars Global Surveyor mission.
Sincerely,
Kirk Goodall
