Ballistic tests at Eglin Air Force Base have shown that the aeroshell design is very stable during Mars atmospheric entry. This picture shows the shadow of a miniature aeroshell model fired in a wind tunnel at approximately Mach 1.2 (1.2 times the speed of sound).
