Spacecraft trajectory design and optimimzation: investigation through correlation analysis of key parameter values

Abstract:

This report is aimed to present and discuss the results of a PhD research offering a new approach to solving the urgent problem of choosing initial approximations for the tasks of spacecraft trajectory optimization. The approach is based on the analysis and use of correlations between the key parameters of the problem. The study uses numerical methods of mathematical analysis, methods of mathematical programming, and of statistical analysis. The outcome achieved represents a significant improvement in the primary solution for the problem considered, as well as the identification of patterns that occur between the values of its key parameters. The results obtained can be used to further refine the algorithm for selecting optimal initial approximations for related (spacecraft trajectory optimization) and other optimization tasks.
