The NASA Launch Flight Readiness Review was conducted.
A contingency plan review uncovered a plausible failure mode in the fault protection software involving the Charge Control Unit (CCU) where a part failure in the CCU could result in catastrophic failure of the battery. A software patch (involving hard coded parameters only - no logic change) has been identified to resolve the problem and the team is preparing the test program required to verify the fix and to insure no unexpected side effects result. The project has recommended to NASA and Boeing that the orbiter launch be slipped 24 - 48 hours. The Project will insure that a rigorous test program is executed and that personnel are rested prior to initiation of the launch countdown.
