Mars Surveyor 98 Project ManagerOrbiter launch processing activities are proceeding on schedule in the Spacecraft Assembly and Encapsulation Facilit (SAEF-2) at Kennedy Space Center (KSC) with launch vehicle 3rd stage mate 18 days away and launch 34 days away. The reworked flight Pyro Initiation Unit functions and interfaces were retested and reverified successfully on the orbiter. Flight software build 8.2.1, the final planned load containing all functionality and fault protection required for the entire mission, was loaded on the orbiter. Attitude Control System (ACS) phasing testing was completed successfully. The final pre-launch test of the launch and initiation flight sequence was completed successfully. Flight ordnance was installed on the orbiter.
Lander launch processing activities are proceeding on schedule in the SAEF-2 facility at KSC with launch vehicle 3rd stage mate 39 days away and launch 58 days away. Mission system testing of the launch/initialization phase was conducted successfully. The Deep Space Network End-to-End compatibility test was completed successfully.
