Mars Surveyor 98 Project ManagerOrbiter launch processing activities are proceeding according to schedule in the Spacecraft Assembly and Encapsulation Facility (SAEF-2) at Kennedy Space Center (KSC). Cracked diode replacement on the Power Distribution and Drive Unit (PDDU) is complete, the PDDU has been requalified, and the unit was delivered to KSC on September 16 for re-mate with orbiter.
Cruise configuration thermal vacuum testing was completed successfully on September 5; this completes the environmental test program for the Mars Polar Lander spacecraft. The lander pre-ship review is scheduled for September 15.
