"Asymptotic dynamo-wave models of solar magnetic activity"

Abstract:

In the framework of mean-field hydromagnetic dynamo theory we  constructed an asymptotic model of traveling dynamo waves for the  limiting case of strong generation (large magnetic Reynolds numbers).  The 1D and 2D asymptotic WKB-solutions describe magnetic field  generation in solar and stellar convective envelopes. The models are  based on modern knowledge of internal structure of the Sun and stars  and the results are compared with available observational data on  solar and stellar magnetic fields.  In particular, we studied and  analysed distribution of signatures of the alpha-effect 
(inhomogeneity of turbulence) revealed from observable magnetic  fields in solar active regions.
